John Henry Linzy was born August 18, 1952 to Johnnie and Rebecca Linzy in Vicksburg, MS. John loved the Creator and gave his life to the Lord as a child. He and his family moved to Monroe, La where John graduated from Neville High School. He attended Robinson Business School where he was named “Best Dressed” and received an associate’s degree as a Bookkeeper. In the late 1970’s John would fall in love with and marry JoAnn Armstrong of Monroe, LA. John and JoAnn, both aspiring young black college graduates, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio before settling in Houston, Texas. JoAnn and John would call Houston home until their earthly departure. The union was short but produced John’s only child, son Andrae’ Lecorbiere-John Linzy. John was a very successful businessman. He worked in the oil field as an accountant for many years until he almost lost his life due to a violent crime committed against him. The attack was so menacing that John suffered life altering injuries. He was considered a miracle by physicians for surviving after being on life support and having to have intensive surgery to repair his skull. He also was stabbed several times during the attack. After having to deal with a lifetime of physical and mental pain spawned from the crime, he never once complained. He never questioned God and he never gave up on his faith. Having what he always deemed as a second chance at life, John spent the rest of his days as an upbeat, positive and supportive Father, Grandfather, Uncle, relative and friend to all that were in his midst.
John was a fashionable, quick witted, organized and respected person. He loved music and owned one of the most extensive record collections around. He loved an honest dollar and a good time. Even when his health worsened with age, he never allowed loved ones to know. He was much too strong and more so concerned with others well being than his own ailments. John was into exercise and a healthy lifestyle as well as huge supporter of the Houston sports teams : The Rockets, The Astros, and The Texans. He never missed watching a game. He also donated to St Jude’s regularly, so much so the Hospital honored him. He was a giving, loving, charismatic man that will be missed by so many he affected with his compassion and actions.
