John Wayne Riffle

John Wayne Riffle, 81, originally from Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away on 6 January, 2021 in Houston, Texas.

John Riffle was born in Morgantown, West Virginia to John Howard Riffle and Madalyn Olive Riffle on St. Patrick’s Day, 1939. The delivery doctor suggested his name should be Patrick, in honor of St. Patrick; his parents objected and named him John after his father. John graduated from University High School in 1958. He wed Marie Tolley in Morgantown and they shared 60 years of marriage. John “Red” was a proud Iron Worker for 42 years and retired from two Local Iron Workers Unions. John enjoyed playing cards with his family; Spades, Hearts, Canasta, and Pinochle. In his later years, John sat inside his garage throughout the day and befriend most of his neighborhood.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Marie Riffle, his 3 children, Deborah Sapp (Houston TX), Joseph Riffle (Birmingham AL), Paul Riffle (Tucson AZ), and a brother, Fred Riffle (Morehead KY). John also has two granddaughters, Kristina Riffle (San Antonio TX) and Bella Rose Riffle (Birmingham AL), and two great grandsons, Carter and Quincy.
