Jack was born in New York City in 1940 to John and Marcella Seibel and grew up in Flushing, NY. After graduating from Flushing High School in 1958, he enrolled in Queens College and began his career at RCA later serving in the U.S. Army.
In 1964, Jack married the love of his life, Marilyn Galati. Together, they built a beautiful life and eventually settled in Houston, Texas. Jack earned his degree from the University of Houston while beginning his professional journey at Shell Oil Company. He later returned to the university as a Systems Analyst, where he spent the remainder of his career.
Jack embraced retirement with joy—traveling, cruising, volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital, cherishing time with his grandchildren, and Tuesday Lunch Bunch. Though Houston became his home, Jack remained a New Yorker at heart.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, boundless kindness, and sharp wit. His legacy lives on in the love he gave and the lives he touched.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marcella Seibel, and his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Galati Seibel. He is survived by his children, Lori Petrash (Michael) of Merritt Island, FL, and their children, Michelle and Anthony; Thomas Seibel (Jamie) of Houston, TX, and their children, Jacob and Avery; his brother, Russell Seibel (Maureen) of Bayside, NY, and their children, Amanda (Declan) and Lauren (Leo); and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
His family would like to thank his caregivers Jessica Hernandez Cortez, Denisha Gore, Rachel and Cynthia.
A funeral service will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, on October 4th at 10:30 am followed by funeral repast at Maggiano’s at 12:30pm, 2019 Post Oak Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
