John Philip Storenski passed away peacefully on the 7th of February 2026 at Memorial Herman Memorial City surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Houston, Texas on the 9th of March 1939, to Philip Storenski and Rosalee Melia. He was 85 years of age.
John was a proud alumnus and standout football player of St. Thomas High School, where he made lifelong friends that, at times, gathered monthly, other than the yearly "must attend” reunion weekend. After graduation he attended the University of Houston and became a proud "Coog" and participated in many "Frontier Fiesta". It was there that he first met the love of his life and soon to be wife, Jo Frances Corona. Their marriage of over 65 years was a testament of their great love and devotion to each other.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta, 20 Club, "The Goodfellas", and a life-long member of the Sacred Heart Society of Houston, where he recently received the 2025 Man of the Year Award. He was a man of strong Christian faith and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
John was a Houston area business owner for much of his life, owning several grocery stores, such as Wag-A-Bag in South Houston and later a proud owner of Josephine's Ristorante for 23 years in downtown Houston. Though much of his time was needed at his businesses, he found time to do the things he enjoyed: golfing, bowling, snow-skiing, playing cards, and coaching his daughters' softball teams.
Most important in his life was making time for family and friends. He was loved by all and was always quick with a barrage of jokes. He loved to make everyone laugh and smile.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Frances Storenski, daughters Franchelle Fisher and husband Jerry, and Johnelle Ybarra and husband Xavier, grandsons Robert Forgy, John Forgy, Christopher Forgy, Nicholas Ybarra, and Dominic Ybarra, and granddaughters Josephine Ybarra and Samantha Diaz, and great-granddaughters Olyvia Forgy, Lorraine Forgy, Lilly Diaz, and great-grandson Omega Forgy, sister Ann Kainer and husband Frank, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Recitation of the Holy Rosary, led by “The 20 Club”, will commence at seven o’clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half past ten o’clock in the morning, on Friday, the 20th of February at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive in Houston, where Fr. Francis Macatangay is to officiate.
