

John Ernest Telles was born on September 25, 1970, and passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 13, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. John was a beacon of love and kindness and is survived by his wife, Jennie Telles; son, Jack Gardea (Jessica); mother, Mary Ellen Telles; mother and father-in-law, Daniel and Socorro Cortez; sisters, Karen Telles (Danton), and Laura Faudoa; brothers, Bobby Telles (Megumi), Matt Telles (Melissa), William Telles (Rocio), Steven Telles (Casie); brother-in-law, Abel Faudoa (Veronica); and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elfego (Sonny) Telles, and brother-in-law, Jose A. Gardea.
Known for his infectious joy and positivity, John had a profound impact on everyone he met. His strength and courage during his illness were an inspiration to all around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that he created with his family, students, and loved ones.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. John's spirit and memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of life will be held on March 14, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In lieu of flowers, John's family is honoring his commitment to education by supporting a scholarship at Lone Star College through donations to the Lone Star College Foundation. Donations will help others receive the education they need and honor John’s memory.
