

A.M.E. Church in Lake Charles, La where he was a life-long member where he served nineteen years as President of the Steward board, ten years as the Chairman of the Finance committee, President of the Laymen Organization, member of the Trustee and Stewards Board, and Minister of Music.
Johnny graduated from W.O. Boston High School in May of 1960. From there he attended Grambling College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He continued his education by earning a Masters degree in Education from Mcneese State University and in 1980 he completed his 30 hours above the Master's degree. He went on to teach at Washington High school in Lake Charles, La, G.W. Carver high School in DeRidder, La, and Deridder high school. in 1983 he became Assistant Principal at DeRidder High until retirement in June 1999.
Johnny met his life partner and soulmate, Evelyn M. Geary Jones Thomas in October of 1969. The two dated for four years before entering into marriage on June 16, 1973. The two were married for 47 years. In addition Johnny was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., NAACP, and the Grambling alumni committee. During his education career Johnny has served on numerous education associations local, state, and national.
He was on the committee responsible for developing the mathematics portion of the Graduation exit exam.
Johnny received many rewards and accolades for his work, church, and service to the community.
Johnny C. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Mae Williams Thomas and Johnnie Clinton Thomas, Brother Jerry Orphey, sister Julia August, Sister Katherine Stanton, Aunt Millie George.
He leaves behind to mourn his memory Daughter Annetta Anglade (Jean Anglade), Son Jason Thomas (Atrina Thomas), 4 grand children Ashley Tucker (Jeremy Tucker), Katrina Cannon, Daniele Cannon, and Javin Thomas. 1 Great Grandchild Zaiden Tucker and a host of friends and associates.
