Jose Isabel Aguilar (Chabelo)

Jose Isabel Aguilar, age 76, lifelong resident of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Jose was born December 26, 1944 in San Jose del Grito, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Francisco Aguilar and Juliana Guerrero; his brothers Jose Baleriano Aguilar, Adeladio Aguilar, Alejandro Aguilar and Eladio Aguilar; his sister Alcadia Reyna.

Jose is survived by his loving wife Maria del Rosario Aguilar; his children Julia De Leon (Javier), Julia Elena Aguilar, Jose Isabel Aguilar "Chabelin" (Maricela), Maria Isabel Aguilar (Antonio), Oscar Macias (Cruz), Vanessa Aguilar, Abraham Aguilar (Carmen); his 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; his sisters Rafaela Martinez and Maria Luisa Reyna and nieces and nephews.

Jose immigrated to Houston in 1969 to continue his pursuit of his dream to start his own shoe repair business. He was able to open up his shoe repair business (Richmond Shoe Service) in 1976 and run the business successfully for 45 years at the same location. Through the years many family members contributed and worked at the shop alongside with Jose, making it a central place for many of the memories shared by all.

Jose was a pillar of the family providing support, guidance and wisdom to all. He was known to always lend a helping hand to anyone, including strangers. Not only did he have a huge heart, but he also had a great sense of humor that will forever live in everyone’s memories.

Apá, siempre lo extrañaremos, pero sabemos que esta descansando al lado de nuestro Dios. Su amor, sus consejos, y todas sus sonrisas las llevaremos dentro de nuestro corazón por siempre. Estamos agradecidos por su apoyo incondicional, y por todo lo que nos brindo en vida. Gracias por ser buen padre, buen abuelo, y un gran amigo.
