

Our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend; José David Garza passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was born Tuesday, July 28, 1959 to Julia and Zaragosa Garza in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Upon graduating high school in 1977, he followed in his father’s footsteps and proudly served in the United States Coast Guard, Army, and Army Reserves. It was during this time he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and became a Commissioned Officer in the Corp of Engineers as a Second Lieutenant (2LT). In time he would go on to find his God Jehovah, and the love of his life Leticia Benavides and his mission changed from one of war to one of peace and family. The couple joined in holy matrimony on September 11, 1993. They would go on to leave Corpus Christi, Texas and begin calling Houston,Texas their new home. The two would soon become five, with Jose and Leticia raising two beautiful daughters, and their favorite son, who were always their topic of conversation.
José loved to be with his family, whether it was cheering for his kids at their sporting events, or watching a movie on a relaxing weekend afternoon. A barbecue Connoisseur, you could always find him hovering over one of the three barbecue pits he had in the backyard. An avid Whataburger lover, you could find him there at least once a week enjoying a #1 meal with a raspberry tea. You could also find him plopped on the couch yelling at the television during every Cowboys, Texans, Astros, and Houston Cougars' games.He loved to be out at his ranch in Cat Spring,Texas enjoying the peace and tranquility country life had to offer.
He is preceded in death by his father, Zaragosa José Garza. He is survived by his loving Wife of thirty-one years Leticia B. Garza, his Children Michaela,Josea, and Olivia Garza, his Mother Julia (Roger) Pearson, Sister Cynthia (Alfred) Cantu, Brother Diego (Belinda) Garza, the countless brother & sister in laws, and the numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
