

He was born in Edcouch, Texas on March 19 1932.
Jose graduated from The University of Texas and received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering. He later received his Masters of Science in Physics. He was married to Dora Trevino for many years until she passed away of cancer. He remarried later to Rebecca Trevino and was married to her for 40 years, until his passing. Jose worked as an engineer for Kelly Air Force Base and later as a Physics Professor for Palo Alto College for another decade. He was dedicated to his field of specialty and loved sharing his passion for science and engineering.
He was a respected member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Leming, Texas, serving as their Deacon for more than 10 years. He and his wife led an active life, volunteering time on community projects and mentoring families in need. As Deacon, he often spent his time marrying couples in the community or presiding over memorial services for those who had lost a loved one. He was passionate about farming and ranching, loved spending time with his family, members of the church, and at his farm. His meditation was sitting on the back porch early mornings to watch the deer cross the property.
He was survived by wife Rebecca Trevino, son David G. Trevino and his wife Jenda, step-daughters: Vera Garcia, Sylvia Garcia Laird, and Linda Killman, and sister Angie Martinez. His much-loved grandchildren included: Nicole M. Trevino, Matthew Trevino, Lauren D. Trevino, Rhett Derby, Wesley Williams, John Laird, Michael Laird, Robert Laird, and Jesse Laird. He has four beautiful great-grandchildren: Abby, Devin, Brennen and Riley, who were the light of his eye.
Funeral services will be held at Brookside Funeral home at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Grand Chapel at Brookside with the interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
