

Joseph Allan Curtis passed away suddenly from natural causes on July 21, 2013. Mr. Curtis, also known as Joe, or “Big Joe,” was a life-long native of the Houston area, having lived in Katy, TX, for many years. Joe was born in Minneapolis, MN, on March 27, 1948, to the late Dean Daniel and Odessa Johnson Curtis. He earned multiple degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University in Chemistry and Biology, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Biology. He was a founding member of TKE fraternity on campus at Nacogdoches, TX. With his love of baseball, he coached Little League in Katy for several years and remained an avid fan throughout his life.
The majority of Joe’s career was spent with Baker-Hughes in Houston, first as a plant manager, then retiring as a Vice President after 25 years. He returned to work doing what he enjoyed, as an environmental engineer working in management, for the Health, Safety and Environment division of Weatherford International at the time of his death
Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Curtis. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Diane Curtis, daughter, Carrie Lynn Curtis, son Adam Wayne Curtis, son Nicholas Dean Curtis and his wife Heather, their children Kinley Olivia, Cash Nicholas; and grandson Ashton Joseph Theimer.
There will be a Catholic Mass to honor Joe, Friday, July 26, 2013, at 10:00 AM, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Milam St., Houston, TX, with Earthman Hunters Creek assisting with the service and burial. A tribute has been posted through Earthman’s website at http://obits.dignitymemorial.com.
