Joe was born in Houston, TX on November 18, 1949, to Joe and Lena Dichero and passed on March 10, 2022. He had a servants heart for the Lord from an early age acting as an alter server at St. Theresa Catholic Church. He attended St. Thomas High School and went on to graduate from the University of Houston in 1973, with a degree in Accounting.
Joe was a loyal, and hardworking man, spending his entire career in the grocery industry. He was an avid sports fan, especially to his favorite team, the Houston Astros. Joe was a collector at heart. As a youth he began collecting comic books and coins which continued throughout his life. He enjoyed gambling on occasion and was known to visit a casino from time to time. Most of all he loved being a “Daddy” to his two daughters and “PaPa Joe” to his four grandchildren.
He is survived by Darlene, his wife of 23 years, as well as his daughters Jennifer Battista and husband Derek, Jaclyn Finke and husband Michael. Grandchildren: Luke Battista, Mallory Battista, Grant Finke and Madelyn Finke. Stepchildren: Vincent Romeo and wife Lindsey, Suzanne Massiatte and husband Danny. Step Grandchildren: Stella Romeo, Lucas Romeo, Mason Massiatte, Summer Massiatte, and Gabriel (Rocky) Massiatte. Siblings: Rose Hoffman and husband Rob, Sandra Provazek and husband Gene. Many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by the mother of his children, Janice Dearman and is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lena Dichero.
Pallbearers: Luke Battista, Grant Finke, Michael Nieto, Geoffrey Pavlicek, Gene Provazek, Don Palermo, Vincent Romeo, Bill Bennett.
Honorary Pallbearers: Greg Pavlicek and Robert Hoffman.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the rosary at 7:00 pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070 with the rite of committal to follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
