

Joseph Douglas Doucet was born on January 18, 1941, to the proud parents Mildred Carron Taylor and Clarence Doucet in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was blessed to have Wilford P. Taylor as a second father in his life. Doug, as he was known to his friends, attended public school in Lafayette, Louisiana (Paul Breaux). As a child he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and attended immaculate heart of Mary Catholic church. He joined the United States Army and upon completion of his military commitment, he moved back to Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1967, Doug moved his family to Houston, Texas where he attended school to become an Electrician. After graduation he went to work for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Works and was a member of Local Union 716. After over twenty years of loyal service, Doug retired. As a young man, he was called into ministry and later retired as a Pastor from Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Doug loved life and lived it to the fullest. He left his own legacy as a husband, beloved father, brother, later as a fun loving grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed being in the presence of his loved ones and friends. If you knew Doug, you knew he loved football and watching television. His caring demeanor and presence will be deeply missed. On Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016, the lord called Doug home. He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence Doucet, Mildred Carron Taylor, and step father: Wilford P. Taylor, sister: Betty Sias, and grandson: Cedric Villier. Doug leaves to cherish his memory: Gloria Davis, his loving companion of 30 years; two sons: Joseph Douglas Doucet Jr. “Douggie”, Jeremy Douglas Doucet (Jasmine), three daughters: Rosalind Doucet Lewis, Patricia Villier, Althea Doucet-West (Robert). One Stepdaughter: Courtney Davis, One Stepson: Willie Davis Jr., One Foster son: Silas Green. Three Brothers: Ronald Taylor (Sue), Clifford Taylor (Deirdre), Terry Taylor (Roxanne). Two Sisters: Margret Ansley, and Kim Taylor. Two Aunts, Agnes Shoal Lewis and Hazel Journet; nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
