Joseph was born in Fleming, KY on March 18, 1929 and moved to Ohio at an early age and spent most of his life there. After graduating from high school, he served in the Navy on the USS Midway, which is now a museum in San Diego, and he had the opportunity to tour it a few years ago. He spent his whole career as an electrical engineer working on classified US Air Force defense programs contracted through Goodyear Aerospace. Some time after retirement, he and his first wife Irene moved from Ohio to FL for health reasons. After her death, he married Karen and in 2009 moved to TX to be close to her family; however, the polka dancing in TX may have had some influence on that move.
Joseph is predeceased by his first wife Irene (mother of his children), his son Thomas, brother John Perkovich, and sister Val Chaplick. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Karen Perkovich, his sons Joseph (Debby) and Kenneth, grandsons Danny, Brandon, Michael (Cindy) and Ian Perkovich. He is also survived by brothers Rudy (Grace), Frank (Alice), Ted (Sam), Carl (Denise) Perkovich and sister Violet Kirk, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides polka dancing, he was an avid bridge player. He loved reading the newspaper daily and kept up on current events. Some of his favorite things were working the crossword puzzles, Sudoku and Word Jumbles. He also loved traveling, visiting family and friends, and polka dancing and had many many friends from the polka circuit. And as most know, he was a huge football fan and stayed faithful to his Ohio teams.
