Josephine Patricia Reeves, born August 30, 1930, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Rose DiRanna; her husband, Bill Reeves; her son Tim Reeves; and her sister, Antoinette DiRanna. She is survived by her son Stephen Reeves and his wife, Kim; her daughter, Debbie Reeves; grandchildren Matt and Erin Reeves and her partner, Nathan Kurth; Josh Copp and Sydney Colburn; Lindsey Hill and her husband, Aaron; great-grandchildren Nash Kurth and Mina Colburn-Copp, and beloved cousins in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Josephine was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with strong Italian roots. She married Bill on May 30, 1951, and, ironically, passed away on their wedding anniversary. After stops in Baltimore, New Orleans, and Dallas, she and Bill finally settled in Houston in 1965. She loved her family and was a dedicated mother and grandmother, supporting her children in all their school and sports activities. Josephine was an accomplished cook, and preparing lavish Italian meals for family and friends was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed telling stories for hours about growing up in a large Italian family with her colorful relatives with crazy nicknames.
Josephine worked in the retail business for nearly four decades at Foley’s and Macy’s department stores in Houston, where all who knew her in healthier times will forever remember her for her friendly nature and generous spirit. She made friends easily wherever she went and maintained close ties with the people she cared about over her entire life, corresponding regularly with family and friends she’d known since childhood. Her warmth and unwavering kindness touched all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong friendships.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
