

Josephine Kight Scott, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother peacefully slipped into eternity on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 12:15 AM.
She was born to Curtis Monroe Kight and Vera Barnes Kight on June 20, 1931 in Jackson, MS. She is preceded in death by her husbands Malcolm Eugene Allen, John Edward Scott and Jack R. Sheets. Her sisters: Mattie Elizabeth Kight Corbett and Gloria Ann Kight. She leaves behind: her daughter, Becky Boles and her husband, Jerry L. Boles and son, Charles Wellington. Grandchildren: James M. Boles and John W. Boles. Great grandchildren: Presley, Parker, Payton, Jacob, Ryan, Emma, Gage and Emerson. Nieces Dorothy (Dot) Lewis and Victoria (Vicky) Bardin
After Josephine graduated from Jackson Central high school in 1950, she began her career in banking as a teller, safe deposit management, and commercial loan documentation. Josephine married her second husband, J. Edward Scott, a commercial real estate syndicator/broker and moved to Houston, TX in September 10, 1961 as Hurricane Carla was bearing down on the upper Texas coastline. Josephine lived and raised her two children in West Houston/Memorial area with her children, Becky and Charles graduating from Memorial High School 1972 and Westchester High School 1980 respectively.
Josephine enjoyed cooking, sewing, crochet, interior decorating and puzzle books like “Sudoku” and “Find the word.” Josephine was a believer in Christ and a member of Second Baptist Church of Houston. In her later years and not being able to attend church, Josephine enjoyed watching “The Winning Walk” with Dr. Ed Young from Houston, TX, Dr. Charles Stanely, In Touch Ministries from First Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, “Pathway to Victory” with Dr. Robert Jeffress, and The Gaither Vocal Band with Bill Gaither and Mark Lowry. Josephine lived with her son Charles in Pearland, TX until she left for her eternal home in heaven.
