

Joshua “Josh” Aaron Long, 42, of Dayton, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, June 11, 2023. He passed away in Kingwood Hospital while lovingly surrounded by his family. Born in Humble, TX, on September 19, 1980, Josh was the only child of Angela Carrell Long and Robert Long.
Josh enjoyed spending time outdoors: kayaking, fishing, hunting, camping, riding 4-wheelers, going to racetracks and off-road parks, working on cars, and hanging out at the beach. He loved going to Texas country music concerts with his Mom and family. Josh was a team member of, “In It, To Win It”, a tournament pool team in Dayton. Mostly, Josh loved spending time with his family and special friends. Josh had a beautiful smile and an amazing “gift of gab”. Conversations with Josh were always interesting, entertaining and humorous.
Josh was currently working as a Crane Mechanic at Groves Industrial. Prior to that he worked at StandardAero as well as General Electric.
Josh will be dearly missed by his loving wife, TaLisa Hughes Long and their four children: Robbie Hennis, Serena Hughes (Fiance, Kyle Key), Joshua Long II, Ava Long, and Elaina Hennis, his granddaughter. Josh was the best Husband, Dad and “Pops” we could have ever asked for.
Josh is also survived by his mother, Angela Carrell Long of New Caney; his father and stepmother, Robert & DJ Long of New Caney; mother & father-in-law, Darlene Bradbery & Charlie Foxworth of Dayton; father & mother-in-law, Roy & Rhonda Hughes of Rye; his grandmother, Delores Long of Henderson, Nevada; grandmother-in-law, Lois Bradbery of Dayton; and grandfather-in-law, James Bradbery of Pasadena. Josh will be deeply missed by many other relatives and great friends.
Josh is preceded in death by his maternal “Pawpaw”, B.L. Carrell; step grandmother, Nancy Carrell; “Nana”, Mary Carrell; uncle, Randy Carrell; and grandfather, Bud Long.
Josh’s viewing will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, for friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at The Little Country Church, 22152 Baptist Encampment Road, New Caney, Texas, 77357. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10:30 am also at The Little Country Church.
The burial will be at 1:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home, at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 (exit 59 South at Lauder Road). Pallbearers will be: Kyle Key, Jerry Platt, Tim Craig, Carter Craig, Robert Kelly and Mike Dew. Honorary Pallbearers are his sons: Robbie Hennis and Joshua Long II.
