It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joshua Philip Walker (35), who left this world on May 2, 2025, after an incredibly brave three-year battle with leukemia. Born on November 2, 1989, in Akron, Ohio, Josh was the beloved son of Stephanie and Mark Walker, who cherished him deeply. Josh touched the lives of everyone he met with his infectious belly laugh and radiant smile. Josh had a deep passion for music and the outdoors and leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents Marjorie & Dale Walker and Margaret & Dominic Babbo; and his uncle Steve Babbo. His spirit will continue to shine brightly through those who survive him: his parents Stephanie & Mark; his partner Ashley Skeens; brother Joe; sister-in-law Sarah; and nephew and nieces Leo, Etta, & Avie. All of whom will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
A brilliant mind, Josh pursued his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he studied Industrial Engineering and mastered in bonfire therapy. His love for music brought him joy, and he often shared this passion with those around him. Josh was an adventurist at heart and embraced new experiences, whether it was daring to try thrilling activities or exploring new cultures (from Ohio to California, to Mexico, China, Puerto Rico and everywhere in-between).
Josh was known for his big heart, incredible hugs, fun-loving spirit and humble demeanor. Friends and family described him as a warrior, someone who faced challenges head-on. He made friends everywhere - his thoughtful persona, immortal belly laugh, and infectious smile lit up the darkest of rooms and drew people to him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held by the Walker family to honor Josh on June 1, 2025, at 2:00pm at Harmony Springs Event Center (3891 S Arlington Rd, Uniontown, OH 44685). Josh wanted the exact opposite of a somber tone and black attire. This gathering will be a time for all who knew him to come together, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of their family and friends for the incredible support during this difficult time. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and you made a profound impact.
Josh may no longer walk among us, but his spirit remains alive in the hearts of all he touched. He was a shining star on this earth, and he will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind.
A special thank you goes to the countless nurses and doctors who provided care, compassion, and dedication throughout Josh's battle.
In lieu of flowers Josh wished for mourners to donate to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org)
