

Josie was born on November 6, 1927 in Ammannsville, TX to Willie and Marcella Tumis. On October 2, 1950 she married Daniel George Kristek.
In 1957, Josie and Daniel left the family farm near Ammannsville and moved to Houston. In 1992, Josie and Daniel moved to Katy to be closer to their grandchildren.
Josie lived for God and her family; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. “Grandma” will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, and generous person, who always put the needs of others before her own. Grandma will truly be missed by all of us.
Josie is survived by her three sons Dan Kristek, Gary Kristek, Mike and wife Mona Kristek, all of Katy; grandchildren, Danielle Shipley and husband Nathan of Katy; Holly Kristek of Houston; Nick Kristek, Branson Kristek, and Brooke Kristek of Katy; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brayden, and Lainey Shipley.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter-in-law Laura Hedge Kristek; sisters Edna Tumis Winkler and Agnes Tumis Anders; brothers Albert Tumis, George Tumis, Johnnie Tumis, and Allen Tumis.
The family will receive friends at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S. Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077 on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, with Rosary at 7:00PM.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00AM at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 1530 Norwalk Drive, Katy, TX 77450. Burial will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
The family wanted to express their appreciation to the staff at Roses Retreat in Katy for their loving and compassionate care of Mom.
