Joy groomed my first cocker and was responsible for our getting Buffett who was a grandson of one of her champions, Tommy. Buffett grew up with our sons. I haven't seen Joy in 25 years as we are living in a different area of the city and it was just too far to get back for grooming. We enjoyed sharing photos of our babies at Christmas. I have continued to have cockers through the years. Joy was quite a character and lived a long life. I'm sure she was able to stay in her home much longer than she would have been able to because of her family's help. I know she will be missed.

I cannot say how sorry I am for your loss. Joy touched my heart in more ways than you will ever know. She will be missed by many. She brought so much Joy to me with all of my Cocker Spaniel babies I have had because of her. I wish you and your family all the best. I will love her always.

It is not the years we spend on earth, but the love we share while here. With deepest sympathy for your loss.

Joy and I have been friends since 1968. She either bred or found me all of my cockers. I know she would be pleased with the way you are celebrating her life.

We first met Joy when she was teaching the show class on Antoine in 1996 and remained friends through the years. She loved her dogs and her students. She talked often about her daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren and how much she loved them.

Joy was our friend and neighbor for 37 years.  She was the nicest neighbor we ever had.  Joy was very friendly, generous and quite helpful.  When my wife or I was ill, she was sympathetic and very helpful.  She would often run errands including getting groceries for us when we were unable to drive due to poor eyesight or being ill.  Joy would take care of the house and even our cats when we were away on vacation.  All who knew her will miss her.
The following poem written for Joy on her 77th birthday summarizes our thoughts on our great neighbor:

A special birthday wish
To a good friend and true
Who more often than not
Brings joyous smiles anew-
Every week on the dot
You offer up your lot
To help with some chore
Or go to the grocery store-
Bananas to replace
Is often the case.
You do all these favors
With love in your heart
For us a great neighbor
You score off the chart-
But however worthwhile
You do with a smile
So now we take time
With this simple little rhyme
To wish you all the best

Dave and I met Joy when we were trying to find a new puppy after our dog Ginger passed away.   Joy wanted to "check us out" and asked us all about our other dogs and wanted to see photos of our other cockers.   Then, we became friends and we called Joy "grandma" since she took care of our Brandi that we bought from her. But she didn't like the "grandma" reference. We spoke on the phone several times a week over the years, and especially after Janie passed away.   We were blessed with  our friendship with Joy and know she is happy in God's hands now.
