On March 12, 1941, in Mount Enterprise, Texas, Lonnie B. Hall and Joy Lee Porter Hall welcomed their first child, Joyce Lillian. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from I.M. Terrell High School, in Fort Worth, Texas; and earned an associate’s degree at Houston Community College. Joyce retired from M.D. Anderson Hospital as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, after 17 years of service.
In 1956, she met the love of her life, Earnest Denman, Jr., and they were married in 1958. To their blessed 59-year union, three extraordinary children were born: Paula, Keith and Deidra. Joyce loved her husband and children dearly, and she dedicated her life to making sure they knew it in both word and deed. She was an amazing mother and source of unconditional love until the very moment she was called home to be with the Lord, the afternoon of June 20, 2024.
Joyce was a faithful member at Bethesda Baptist Church, Homestead Missionary Baptist Church, and her last place of worship: Greater True Light Missionary Baptist Church. She was also an active member of multiple church ministries and a senior group, the Saved Saints. Joyce enjoyed traveling, and her travels took her to Alaska, Hawaii, Israel, Italy, and many other domestic and international destinations. In addition, Joyce was a seamstress, she quilted, and was an exceptional cook.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest; her parents, Lonnie B. and Joy Lee, and her sister, Cecile Gibson. Among the many loved ones who cherish her are her children, Paula, Keith (Tina), and Deidra (Wayne); her grandchildren, Kristeena (Joshua David), Britney, Dominique (Marqia), Cameron, Allen, Justin, Jacob, and Hayden; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kori, Joshua Ethan, Langston, and Justice Lillian Hall (Joyce’s namesake); and her special niece’s family, the Knight Family; and a multitude
of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends
