Joyce Ann Mohan Havey Echols

Joyce Ann Mohan Havey Echols, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard James Mohan, beloved sister of Janice Lee Mohan Havey, and Keith Edward Mohan, died peacefully Sunday December 3rd 2023, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce was born December 2, 1947 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1958. Joyce graduated from Harlingen High School, and later attended and graduated from Southwest State University in San Marcus, Texas. Joyce became fluent in Spanish and was an elementary school teacher in Harlingen, and Brownsville, before moving to Houston, where she taught for many years at Memorial Junior High School, until she retired to New Ulm, Texas. Joyce was able to enjoy her country retirement for several years, before suffering a debilitating stroke in 2011. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard James Mohan, Louise Webb Mohan, her sister Janice Mohan (John) Havey, her daughters Aimee Clare Havey, and Allison Havey (Grant) Rankin. Joyce is survived by her brother Keith Edward (Connie) Mohan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family gives special thanks to her many close friends and relatives, who generously supported Joyce over the years through prayers, visits, numerous cards, facetime videos, and her annual birthday celebrations. We also give special thanks for her wonderful care given the caretaker personnel, and management personnel, of the assisted living care center, Evergreen Cottages of Katy Texas, where Joyce happily resided for many years.

Joyce’s celebration of life services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston Texas 77079, on January 23 at 1:30 p.m.
