She was the only child of Mary Ann and Frank Cotropia, born on September 27, 1941. She grew up on the family farm in Mumford, Texas, until they moved to town when she was in Junior High school. She was in the marching band and National Honor Society in high school. While in high school, Joyce went on a blind date with a boy from Houston – Sam and Joyce married in June of 1959, and were married for over 65 years at the time of her death.
Joyce was a busy Mom, involved in Spring Branch American Little League, Girl Scouts, and all the Northbrook High School Booster Clubs. She worked for the Spring Branch Independent School District as her kids grew up. Her favorite job was the Textbook Clerk at Spring Shadows Elementary since she got to read aloud to the kids. Helping in the library was her joy!

She was blessed to be loved by the family of nieces, nephews, Cousins and godchildren whose lives she was a part of. She has been missed these past years, but we are blessed that she is whole again and surrounded by love. Special thanks to the staff at Avanti Senior Living who took such loving care of her. We cannot say enough about the love and care she received there.
