

Juan Mendoza June 24, 1927--May 25, 2015 Houston, TX Juan Mendoza, shoeshine- and newspaper-boy, pharmacy- and grocery-deliverer, dry-dock worker, WWII veteran, warehouseman, security guard, brother, husband, father, and abuelito died on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. Though he had to quit school in the 9th grade to support his family, Juan taught his children important life lessons, such as the value of hard work and the need to put family first. Though he had to work two jobs seven days a week and even then struggled to provide for his family’s material needs, Juan amassed enormous wealth as measured by friends, family and love. He is survived by his wife, Mary Mendoza; children and grandchildren: Laura (husband Heraclio, children Veronica and Heraclio,Jr.); John (wife Kimberly, children Jonathan and Eva), Melinda (husband Tony, children Olivia and Christian); and Nilda (husband Marco, children Marco, Jr., Nikolaus, Michael, Carmelo, and Nikki); siblings Margaret, Joe, and Robert; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Juan is predeceased by parents Jose and Maria Mendoza and siblings Adelaida and Jesse. Visitation will be at Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway St. 77087, on Thursday, May 28 from 5-9 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10 AM.
