Julia was born on March 29, 1921, to the late Celsa and Sebero Cantu of Monterrey, Mexico. She married Jose L. Garcia on February 2, 1946. Their union was blessed with four children, Sonia Garcia Salas, Jerald Garcia, Julie E. Jeffries and Joe "Pepe" Garcia. In 1951, Julia and Jose with their four children moved to Houston .
As a single mother of four in the mid 60's, Julia achieved the purchase of her dream home, always providing for her family, and set the precedence for success by instilling in our family strong values and a dedicated work ethic.
Julia was the Matriarch of our very large and extended family. She exuded an amazingly strong and caring presence by always putting her best self forward, never letting on that she may be having a bad day by the way she conducted herself. Leading by example, Julia always had a smile on her face, a happy demeanor and always dressed to impress. No matter what time of day one popped in, she hurried to the kitchen to whip up a meal, ensuring that you never left unfed. She laughed , joked and loved family gatherings. No words can convey the love and care she felt for her own family.
Julia is survived by her devoted daughters Sonia G. Salas, Julie E. Jeffries and her loving sons Jerald (Diane) Garcia, and Joe (Perla) Garcia who will cherish her beautiful memory always, four grandchildren, Jacki Oleskey, Jenene Uhrig, Lance Garcia, Armin Garcia, and she lived to meet six great grandchildren Bailey, Christian, Julianna,Pyper, Ella and Ethan who she loved dearly, sisters Beatriz Gonzalez and Consuelo Garza of Monterrey, Mexico and her brother Arnulfo Cantu of Houston, Texas.
With a heart larger than life itself, ever so giving and caring, our hearts once abundantly filled by her love, although broken, will carry the beautiful memories of our beloved mother Julia C. Garcia forever.
