Julia Ann Loya-Gonzales

Julia was born on March 15, 1964, in Houston Texas to her mother Naomi, and her father Louis. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had the opportunity to meet her great-granddaughter to be part of four generations of strong women. She was also an entrepreneur with her jewelry sales and her investment in her sons' and daughter's business. Known as “Mama Goma” in the Houston pop-up market scene, she has always brought a fun and warm presence.

Julia possessed a wonderful outlook on life and had a wicked sense of humor. She was not known for “fitting in.” In pictures, you would notice her first with her tie-dye clothing, bucket hats, and unique jewelry. She marched to the beat of her own drum and gave no apologies for it. Even with a wild personality, she was very giving, kind and dependable.

She loved fiercely in this life. A noticeable love language trait of hers was most definitely gift giving; often adopting new kids to add to her expanding family. She gave her most special gifts in various forms: laughter, wild stories of her younger years, and sentimental tokens from her markets or trips, most importantly, her love and support.

Julia is survived by her brother Louie, her sisters Elma, Rene and Becky. Her children Cassandra, Johnnie and Toni. Grandchildren Nuvia, Gessenia, Jose Jr, Luis, Johnnie Ray, Lena, Kayla and great granddaughter Allison.

A visitation for Julia will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A eulogy will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 at 6:00 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, Texas 77022. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A committal service will occur Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
