Julia Ramirez Ortega

Julia was born on February 24, 1950, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, to parents Jose Ramirez and Leonarda Lara de Ramirez. She later made her home in Houston, Texas, where she built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.

She was a devoted wife to Francisco G. Ortega and a loving mother to five children: Francisco C. Ortega (Darlene Ortega), Eduardo Ortega (Nora Ortega), Jorge L. Ortega (Misty Ortega), Cesar Ortega (Mollie Ortega), and Gladys Ortega (Roy Cruz). She was also a cherished aunt to her beloved niece, Maricela J. (Gustavo Martinez). Julia’s legacy lives on through her 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Julia was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a huge baseball fan who loved her Houston Astros. She enjoyed dancing, attending Astros games, and traveling to casinos. Her daily trips to the "casinitos" with her husband were their favorite pastime. Julia adored spending time with her children and grandchildren—they were the light of her life. Her sense of humor, warmth, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
