Julio was born in Cuba on September 14, 1928. He started his own business, Casa Julio, and married Lilian Martinez in April of 1955.
The couple and their two daughters moved to the United States in 1969, where they settled in
Houston and began building many lifelong friendships.
Julio occupied himself as a business owner with Prudential Insurance and Central Insurance Agency, but it was by no means all work and no play. He and Lilian brought the Cuban Spirit with them: dancing, socializing, and throwing parties for every occasion. Julio was an avid baseball fan, playing team softball well into his 60s, and was often found behind the camera, capturing his full and passionate life on film.
Julio’s quick wit and debonair smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Those touched most deeply include his beloved wife, Lilian Alvarez;
two daughters: Lilly Rust and husband, CB of Fort Worth, TX, Diana Sawyer,and husband, Danny of The Woodlands, TX; four grandchildren: Danny and Tina White of Honolulu, HI, Joshua and Yoon Mi McQueary of Japan, Caleb and Jody McQueary of Fort Worth, TX, and Brandi Sawyer of The Woodlands, TX; and 5 great grandchildren: Mason, Abbey, Tanner, Jude, and Jin.
