Dear Susan,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Jay was a larger-than-life character and generous with his friendships. The lake, the parties,  the fishing trips, were marvelous, but I always enjoyed just talking to Jay as well. I had always hoped to see you two again.

I am truly saddened to hear of Jay's passing.  On behalf of the Ollmann family, I send our deepest condolences and loving support to his family and friends. 
I grew up at the cabin next door to him on Woodchuck Bay, sharing the love of the Lake with Jay for many years!! He was like a second dad to me, the dad next door that would do all of the fun lake things with you, (water skiing, fishing, filletting the fish, and boating) and most of all, always welcoming a a visit on the dock by swimming over and chatting about life's lessons...somehow, they always seemed easier to understand while on the dock, listening to the loons, the sound of waves, the creaking of the dock, and the boat rocking back and forth. Those are all memories that come flooding back as soon as you enter Lake of the Woods territory.
He was a MASTER fisherman and it was always a highlight in the summer when he came because that meant that lots of fish were going to be caught!!! He knew all of the best spots and somehow had a knack to always catch more than anyone...And His famous shoreline fish frys-yum! Jay also had the patience to teach us kids how the water ski and when the waters were calm, off came the tarp, and the boat started up for hours of fun!  Thank you Jay, for all of the special memories at Woodchuck Bay.  I know I will always feel your spirit there xoxoxo

Rest in peace my friend. While I knew you only two years at military college in the 60's, I did not forget you, and tried unsuccessfully to track you down a couple of years ago. I always admired your courage, vitality and wicked sense of humour. I remember the prank we played on "gramps", and your conversation with Lt Cmdr Picard about your "rash", and how your room mate Dextras used to drive you nuts. Circles and charge parade at dawn. So sorry that I wasn't able to contact you before you left us - hope to see you on the other side my friend. Sam Stevens

Jay and I both worked at Campeau Corp. the first year he was in Texas in the early 80s.  He was witty, kind and full of life!  I have fond memories of him and send my sincere condolences to his wife and family.

Jay, Thad Hickman and I spent many days on the Gulf of Mexico diving and spear fishing.  Jay taught me that when you are spear fishing, you are a diver first and safety was the main focus.  If you speared a fish you should be proud ... but making it back home after deep diving is the goal.  He was a good friend and always made our long trips out to the drilling rigs to spear fish fun.  Believe it or not, most of our conversation was not about girls, drinking or partying .... rather cooking and how to make the best rice.  He will be missed by all of us but he and Thad, who preceded him across to the other side, will be there, side by side still negotiating who speared the best fish and how to prepare it for the table.

I am sorry for the passing of your loved one. Zechariah 2:8 is a comforting scripture for your family to know that God feels your pain when we suffer.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the passing of your dear loved one.  When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure in your heart and it lives forever. May the wonderful treasures fill your heart with love and bring you peace.

Very sorry to read of Jay's passing. He was a very close friend in the early '70's and we enjoyed fishing on Lake of the Woods. We shared his cottage with Norma and my wife Virginia. I know he has struggled in recent years. May he rest in peace!
