June Amelia Johnson passed away at home on April 18, 2015. She was born on February 3, 1933 in Mathis, Texas to Theodore and Jewel Steelhammer. She graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. June was a loving wife to her husband Wayne and a doting mother to her children and grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy. June became deeply committed to solving the challenges faced by mentally disabled people with the birth of her daughter, Kim and tireless supported her throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne; son Charlie, daughters Judy and Kimberley, son-in-law Scott, grandsons Hunter Frederick and fiancé Ashley Pendergrass and Taylor Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions should be made to The Center Foundation, 3550 W. Dallas, Houston, Texas 77019
