

Karen was the eldest of 5 children to the predeceased Harry and Joan Dunn. She is survived by her sisters Christine Cheek and Elaine Tietz and husband, Eric Tietz who adored her greatly. In addition, she has 5 fabulous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly – Matthew Scott, Alison Cheek, William Cheek, Christopher Tietz and Elizabeth Tietz.
Karen spent most of her early life overseas, moving to Houston when she was 20 and remaining here until the end. However, her favorite city was London where she enjoyed her high school years. Karen loved the Houston rodeo and was a devoted fan of the Houston theatre scene. She attended numerous shows at the Hobby Center, The Alley, and many others. She found inspiration in stories, music, and the magic of the live performances. Karen was also a huge country western music fan.
Karen’s dedication to her 40 plus years of sobriety was her biggest accomplishment. Her strength, resilience and steady spirit served as a beacon to those around her and was a true testament to her grace and humility.
Karen was a simple soul with a big heart. She found joy in the uncomplicated aspects of life – marveling at the world with a childlike demeanor. She will be very missed by those who knew her and remember her for her kindness, love towards others and how she touched the lives of so many she met.
