

1926 in Houston, TX, the only child of Raymond Meek Bayless and Lillian Evesta Hudson. She married Gerard (Gerry) August Dobelman on December 26, 1945; both Kay and Gerry were graduates of the Rice Institute (Rice University). She retired in 1999 after 20 years as Executive Director of the Brown Foundation, Inc., and maintained her certified public accountant
(CPA) practice for two decades in retirement. She was active in the Conference of Southwest Foundations, and many charitable and advisory organizations in Houston and in a 5-state area.
She is survived by her son John August Dobelman, her daughter-in-law Kathleen Elizabeth Dobelman, and grandchildren August John Dobelman (Alicia Matousek), Hope Derosette Dobelman, James Whitehead (Kylene Jennifer Hopkins), Janette Morgan O'Sullivan (Michael O'Sullivan), and Elizabeth Whitehead. Her great grandchildren are Gerard August Dobelman, Timothy Ellis Whitehead, Rachel Whitehead, Rebecca Kathleen Whitehead, Caitlin O'Sullivan, Ciaran O'Sulllivan, Emma Mackenzie Whitehead, and George Newton Smith. She is also survived by her godson Rene Francis Bell of Houston, Texas.
Kay was proceeded in death by her husband Gerard August Dobelman, and two other sons, William Bayless Dobelman and Steven Gerard Dobelman.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 9 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A brief graveside service will be held after the funeral service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, with reception following.
Pallbearers are August John Dobelman, John August Dobelman, Rene Bell, James Whitehead, Timothy Whitehead, and Donnie Osborne; with honorary pallbearer Harry Golightly.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made to Houston's St.
Agnes Academy for the Mary Katherine Bayless Dobelman Scholarship Endowed Fund, or to the CLL Global Research Foundation.
