

Katy was born in Lyons, TX on March 12, 1936 to Roy E. and Hermine Helena Joanna Meadows. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School and received a degree in Education through the Houston Community College System. Katy married Don A. Moore on October 4, 1954 .
Katy worked for the Houston Independent School System first as an Attendance Clerk at San Jacinto High School and then as a teacher of At-Risk Youth at Waltrip Senior High School. She volunteered her services as a Guardian Ad Litem with CASA for many years and was a Gold Life Master bridge player and member of the Ya Ya’s Bridge Club.
Katy is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Kay Moore, her daughter-in-law Rhonda Jean Cook, her grandson Don Raymond Carlson, her granddaughter-in-law Linda Joy Carlson, her granddaughter Kristen Ashley Moore, her great-grandchildren Reaghan Alexander Moore, Oliver James Carlson, and Ginger Rose Carlson, her brother-in-law Davis Patrick Moore III, and her sisters-in-law Harriet Ann Moore and Sherry Colleen Moore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to many, touching hearts and lives wherever she went.
A celebration of Katy’s life will be held at First Methodist Church of Houston Westchase, 10570 Westpark Drive, at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 19, 2014. A reception will follow.
