She is survived by her husband, David Reid; children, Riley Ann and John; her parents, Diana and John Harrell; her brother Kevin Harrell, her aunt, Julia Ann Purcell and numerous extended family. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Bliss and Luther Kelley and Minna and Robert Harrell from Columbia, South Carolina where Kelley was born on the 15th of July 1972.
Kelley grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, Brentwood, Tennessee, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she graduated high school. She earned an accounting degree at Baylor University.
Kelley came to a deep relationship with Jesus at Second Baptist Church and realized her passion was the Bible and she wanted to serve God in a vocation. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and subsequently served as the Children’s Ministry Director at Grace Bible Church in the Heights for three years.
Kelley met the love of her life, David Reid, in 2011 and married him on the 26th of May 2012. On the first of August 2013 she delivered twins, Riley Ann and John and they too became the loves of her life.
Kelley was known for her joy, love, kindness, positivity, and forgiving spirit to all she met. Her smile and laughter were her trademark. She collected genuine friends wherever she went, including Aspen, Colorado where they spent many summers.
Kelley’s final thoughts were all about her family and her desire for them to know the Bible is true and loving the LORD your God with all your heart, mind, and soul is essential for a successful life. She led the abundant life and shared it with everyone.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 10th of August at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family and share remembrances at a reception in the Fine Arts Center (FAC).
In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be made in Kelley’s honor to MD Anderson Cancer Center, for Dr. John Heymach, PO Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486; Second Baptist School Library; or St. Francis Episcopal School Library.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialoaksfunerals.com for the Reid family.
