Kenneth Robert Akre

Kenneth Robert Akre, our Dad, passed away on October 9, 2018. His death was sudden and unexplainable. Since his heart transplant on September 5, 2017, he was living life to the fullest and feeling better than ever. He would want you to know that he was taking care of his new heart and he had plans to be here for a very long time.

Ken was so proud of his family and could regularly be found telling strangers about his five beautiful grandchildren that called him “P. Pa.” Ken remained dedicated to his late wife Diane until the end. He would say that he “had already married his soul mate, so there was no point in looking.” He loved living so close to Megan and Josh and their three daughters, Charlotte, Meredith, and Samantha. Jennifer and Tiffany were lucky enough to have Sunday dinner with Dad almost every week and P. Pa never forgot to bring Cohen and Evyn cookies. Dad’s happy place was Port Aransas, spending time at the beach house and fishing with Erin and Daniel.

Dad spent the last year making every moment count, spending more time with the grandkids, telling people he loved them, and making big plans the future. Our hearts are broken. He will be missed.

Services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 2:00 pm.
