Kenneth Nathaniel Drennan was born on October 13, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, to William Henry Drennan and Jessie Mae Warren. As a child, he moved to Calvert, Texas, where he attended elementary school while living with his grandmother. He later relocated to Houston, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.
Following graduation, Kenneth enrolled at Prairie View A&M University. After two years of study, he volunteered to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He faithfully served for four years, and upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a minor in Industrial Technology.
As a young man, Kenneth met and married Barbara Jean Mollett. To this union, three beloved children were born. Craig, who passed in infancy, Phillip Nathaniel Drennan and Cherel Drennan. Barbara later succumbed to cancer, and entered into eternal rest.
Over the span of his 40-year career, Kenneth taught at several schools throughout the Houston area, ultimately completing his teaching career with the Aldine Independent School District as a middle school instructor. His greatest passion was teaching students how to design and build projects from wood, metal, and other natural resources, with many of their projects being showcased in malls across the city. He also introduced his students to the growing world of computer technology. To deepen his knowledge, he pursued graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Technology. Kenneth was also known to his family and friends as an avid hunter and fisherman with a great love of nature and the outdoors.
On August 9, 2025, Kenneth entered into peaceful rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Molett Drennan, his father, William Henry Drennan; his mother, Jessie Mae Warren; his sons, Craig Drennan (who passed in infancy) and Philip Nathaniel Drennan; his grandmother, Phoebe Drennan; and his aunts, Odessa Lewis, Charlie Mae Fisher, and Rachel Logan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Cherel Drennan; cousin Arletha Mae Turner and her sons, Samuel Turner (and his children, Reed and Evan) and Anthony Turner (and his son, Anthony Jr.); his devoted friend and nurse advocate, Frankie Dillard; close friends Kim and Crystal Dillard, Toni Ysidra Bryant (whom he lovingly called “Lil’ Bit”), along with many other family members, friends, acquaintances, and former students.
Rest in peace, Kenneth. Your love, teaching, and legacy live on in all who knew you.
