Kimi (Kurashima) Stanfield

Kimi was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 27, 1929 to father, Kiyotaka Kurashima; mother, Koto Kurashima; and grandmother, Giichiro Hakamada. Her family had a successful printing business in Tokyo, Japan about 20 minutes from the Imperial Palace.

Kimi went to college in Tokyo, Japan and obtained a degree in Home Economics and certification to teach traditional tea ceremonies.

Life changed for Kimi when she met Charles R. Stanfield, of Garrison, Texas. Charles Ray was in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division in WWII fighting in Germany.

Kimi and Charles married in 1952. They had two beautiful daughters born in Tokyo, Shirley and Jannette. They moved to the United States in 1958. They were blessed with a third daughter, Kimi Lorine and finally a “handsome” son, Kenneth Ray Stanfield.

Charles Ray had been ill from injuries from his time in active duty in WWII and passed away March 22, 1966. Kimi chose to stay in the states where they could be close to Charles Ray’s family. Kimi studied hard and received her citizenship in 1976. She was very proud of her citizenship and was an active registered voter.

She started her own business as a tailor and seamstress. Kimi had a passion for sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and bird/duck watching.

Kimi faced many challenges and adventures in raising four children and providing for them but if ask any one of them, they will tell you she provided an abundance of love for each one individually and their children and grandchildren. Kimi was loved by many and had a helping hand from family and relationships along the way. She thanked God openly and regularly for helping her to create the family and legacy she was so proud of.

She was survived by Children: Shirley Ann Crawford and son-in-law Clyde Crawford, Jannette Lee Hunt and son-in-law William Hunt, Kimi Lorine Duplichan and son-in-law Rick Duplichan, and Kenneth Ray Stanfield and wife Deneen Stanfield and Marion Stanfield. Grandchildren: Craig Crawford, Joshua Reese, Stefani Crawford, Kristin Peleshok, Jennifer Slankard, Brandon Charles Crawford, Kari Archambeau, Charles Ray Stanfield II, Ashley Stanfield. Great grandchildren: Taylor Anne Jarvis, Thomas Reese, Trent Reese, Devin McHazlett, Drake Crawford, Cassidy Crawford, Kate Archambeau, Kraig Crawford, Ayden Crawford, Lacie Crawford, Evangelina Crawford, Kinsley Archambeau, Aya Rivas, Aiden Reese, Kyleigh Archambeau, Charlotte Stanfield. Alexia Rivas, Kayde Crawford, deceased before her. One Great Great Grandchild: Jeremiah Layne Gordley. Kimi’s Nephew Hitoshi Matsui in Tokyo.
