

On January 7, 1973, Kirby Joe Waines, Sr. came into this world as the first child to Archie and Gloria Waines in Carthage, Texas. As a child the family moved to Houston, but he spent many summers in Carthage with his grandmother and cousins. Kirby has a passion for football and spent his years at FM Black Middle School and Waltrip High School playing on the football teams. He graduated from Waltrip High school in 1992, and immediately joined the US Army Reserves. He worked with the City of Houston Grounds and Maintenance department at George Bush Intercontinental Airport where he held a supervisor position over 20 years. Kirby enjoyed traveling, going to the movies, playing board games, watching football, and eating out.
Kirby and Taneha attended Waltrip High School together and were reunited in February 2010. They began courting each other September 9, 2010, with a text message saying will you be my girlfriend check yes or no. Kirby married the love of his life on March 22, 2013. Kirby and Taneha spent the next ten years falling deeper in love. They always said “we still feel like newlyweds.” They spent many years cruising, traveling, eating out, going to the movies, as well as spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Kirby spent his life protecting and loving his one baby sister, Cynthia
Lawanna Wright. Many memories were with her family, husband, Donald Wright and his nephews, Donte, Darius, Darian and Davien. Close to his heart are his children Amber Waines, Kirby Waines, Jr., Kirtrell Waines, Kirwan Waines, Kiamani Waines and stepfather to DaVon Clarence, Tory Clarence and J’Vin Clarence. Kirby loved spending time and spoiling his grandchildren, Katra, Kaycie, Kayden C., Kylan, Kyzon, Khody, Kaliyah, Kyla, Janiah, Josiah, Lucas, Dayana, Kameron, Aria, Kayden W., Kynnedi, Jayla, and Erin. Kirby truly loved all of his cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Kirby was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Waines, Elsie Leary, Larry Waines, and Roygene Waines.
A visitation for Kirby will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. Immediately followed by a funeral service from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A committal services will be held at 8401 Wheatley St, Houston, TX 77088, 8401 Wheatley St, Houston, TX 77088.
