Susy was born in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa on August 10, 1931, to Ada and Peppino Arbib. After growing up in Tripoli and Rome, Italy, she went on to work at the United States Embassy in Tripoli, where she would meet her future husband, Herbert O. Hendrix. They were married on September 10, 1959. After living in Tripoli and London, England, Susy and Herb settled in Houston with their daughter, Elisa.
Susy led a life of pure joy. Her passions included traveling, cooking and most importantly, family. She and Herb took their family on many trips and on holidays their house was the place to be. “Nona and Pop”, as they were lovingly known, were eagerly involved in their grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed attending all of Ryan and Dean’s activities.
Susy was preceded in death by her daughter, Elisa Hendrix McLennan, and her husband, Herbert O. Hendrix. Her survivors include her two sisters, Nini Arbib and Norma Jones; her two grandchildren, Ryan Hendrix McLennan and Dean Hendrix McLennan; and numerous other relatives.
