

Larry James Jackson was born on July 9, 1953, in Galveston, Texas, to the late James Vernon Jackson and Katherine Hollis. He transitioned from this life on Friday, January 3, 2025. From an early age, Larry embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel. He received his ministerial license from Zion Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, in February 1976.
Larry graduated from Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas, and continued his education at Texas Southern University in Houston, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Psychology.
Larry was a devoted member of St. Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where he served under the leadership of Pastor S.E. Harris. He was an active participant in the Brotherhood and also served faithfully as an Acting Deacon.
Larry dedicated over 50 years to his career as a truck driver, with 25 of those years spent at Praxair, Inc. During his time there, he earned the prestigious "Road to Excellence" award and was recognized in 2003 for the Texas Distribution Team's Achievement of "One Million Preventable Accident-Free Miles".
Larry met the love of his life, Helen Terry, in August 1980, and they were married just five months later on January 31, 1981. Their union lasted nearly 44 years. Together, they built a family, with Helen lovingly embracing her role as the devoted mother of their two sons, Eric and Darryl.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bobbie Jean Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife, Helen Jackson; sons, Eric (Sabrina) and Darryl (Pamela); five grandchildren, Dazmine, Darrian, Eric Jr. (Hannah), Vernon, and Jordon; one great-grandson, Tru; along with a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation for Larry will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1014 Gregg St, Houston, Texas 77020. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 1014 Gregg St, Houston, Texas 77020. A committal service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, Texas 77039.
