Lascelles Lumbado Reittie (“Guy”), born to Gertrude and Eric Reittie, started his life journey on June 28, 1952 in Aenon Town Clarendon, Jamaica. He attended the Aenon Town All Age School then later matriculated into the York Castle High School, in Browns Town. His love for children and education led him to pursue a Diploma in education at Churches Teacher’s College in Mandeville, Manchester. He then returned to his hometown to teach at his former school for a few years after which he came to Houston, Texas in 1987 to pursue better opportunities. He was a member of the renovations team as a painter with Harris County and was awarded in 2020 for 25 years of dedicated service. He was still employed at Harris County at the time of his passing on March 29, 2021.
He was a passionate father who always had a close relationship with his two children, Rene’ and Melissa. He was loved and widely known for his funny, charismatic and kind personality. All his nieces and nephews referred to him as the “cool uncle”. He was extremely easy going and easy to talk to and was never judgmental; a true confidant to many. He was also very outspoken and a fiercely loyal individual. He was a very loving and supportive husband to his wife of 11 years Alecia, and he got the most joy from being around family and his siblings.
He will fondly be remembered by his wife, Alecia Reittie; son, Rene’ Reittie; daughter, Melissa Reittie-Holness; son-in-law, O’Knegi Holness; daughter-in-law, Noash Clark Reittie; mother-in-law, Evelyn Chattersingh; step-daughter, Joella Martin; step-grandchildren: Nicollette and Nickayla Johnson; siblings: Hazel, Sonia, Rupert, Patrick, Flavia, Gen, Allison, Lois, Basil, and Heather; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
"May his soul rest in eternal peace and perpetual light shine on him."
