Lawyer grew up in Houston Texas, and attended Brock Elementary, and later graduated from Booker T. Washington Sr. High School. He was baptized at an early age and attended New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. M. M. Pearson. He later served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp.
On July 4, 2021 Our Father whispered for Lawyer to come and rest. Therefore, with peace and calm he fell asleep in the “Arms of Jesus,” leaving a loving family to cherish his memories; his loving wife Georgia Polk, three daughters Jacqueline Polk Payne, Pamela Tibbs and Trialica Heard. His three sons Andre Coleman, James Henderson who preceded him in death and Cedric Heard. Grandchildren James R. Coleman Jr. Jaleesa Heard, Cassandra Tibbs, Robert Tibbs and Damon Heard. Great-grandchildren Jeremiah Coleman, Jasmine Coleman, Semaj Coleman, Jacorey Coleman, Kayne Dorsey, Moxie Dorsey and Zamaya, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lawyer was a devoted husband and father. He loved traveling the world with his wife Georgia. In his leisure time he loved playing bass guitar and listening to all different types of music. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family. He lived a fantastic life.
