Leah LaNell Anderson, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Magnolia, Texas, on January 8, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on December 7, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Leah lived a life full of creativity, love, and devotion to family and friends.
Leah was preceded in death by her father, John Hickman, and her brother, Rodney Hickman. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Anderson; her children, Brian Doyal and wife Ashley, Lindsey Morris and husband Adam, and Jennifer Doyal; her mother, Virginia Hickman; her brothers, Randall Hickman and Chad Hickman with wife Dawn; and her adored grandchildren, Laylee, Ruby, Franklin, Asher, and Austen. Leah’s love and light also touched her niece and nephews, Jacob, Justin, Gavin, and Tiffany, along with countless others who knew her.
A brilliant artist and endlessly creative spirit, Leah infused beauty and imagination into every corner of her life. She instilled a love for crafts and DIY projects in her children, teaching them to cherish creativity as she did. Her artistic talents brought joy to so many. If you lived in Montgomery County during the 1990s, you likely experienced Leah’s boundless entrepreneurial energy—whether through her role as a much-loved “Beanie Baby dealer,” her incredible custom-painted murals and trinkets, her famous homecoming mums, or her thriving candle business that filled homes with warmth and wonderful scents. Leah owned gift shops in historic downtown Montgomery, where her joyful personality and welcoming spirit made her a friend to all who walked through her doors.
Her "gal pals" and Bunco ladies held a special place in Leah’s heart, as did the countless lives she touched through her work as a medical esthetician and laser technician. With over a decade of experience, Leah helped people feel confident and beautiful, all while forming meaningful bonds with those she cared for.
Leah’s warmth extended to her love for animals. It was rare to see her apart from her truest companions, her cat TL and dog Mia. Her children remember growing up in a home that welcomed every kind of pet imaginable—bunnies, birds, flying squirrels, and even iguanas. She passed on this deep love for animals to her children and grandchildren.
As a mother and grandmother, Leah made every holiday and celebration magical, putting her heart into every detail to create cherished memories for her family. Her love for the Lord was central to her life. Even when her memory began to fade, Leah could still sing her favorite worship songs, a testament to her unwavering faith.
Leah will be remembered for her generous heart, vibrant creativity, and deep devotion to her loved ones. Her memory will live on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the beauty of her creations, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
