She is survived by her parents, Leila “Lee” and Robert Palmer Cochran; sisters, Norris “Norrie” Woodhull Cochran, and Laura Cochran Savage and her husband Michael; and niece and nephews Sarah, Palmer and Ryan Savage. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Leila Norris Hull, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Dr. John Hull, Anne Woodhull Cochran Hutcheson and William Shepherd Cochran, Jr.
Leila graduated from The Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut, and The University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi.
She had a lively spirit and a caring heart for animals of all kinds. Above all, she was passionately involved in “Small Paws”, a dog rescue organization for the Bijon Frise. With a keen sense of humor and enthusiasm, she also worked with the Houston Rodeo Committee and was gifted in both the propagation and photography of hybrid tea roses. A loving and caring person, she was also a “friend of Bill’s.”
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 10th of August, in the Parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
At a later date, the family is to gather for a private interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Douglas Richnow, D.D., Senior Associate Rector of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine, is to officiate.
For those desiring, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Leila's name be directed to Small Paws Rescue, 3316 S. 72nd W. Ave., Tulsa, OK, 74107; the Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Drive, Houston, TX, 77024; to the Houston BARC Foundation, P.O. Box 22568, Houston, TX, 77227-2568; or to the charity of one’s choice.
