Leonard Paul Barras, age 50 of Houston, passed away on Wednesday, the 18th of September 2013, after a spirited fight against cancer. His pain and suffering came to an end and were replaced with joy and happiness at joining God and his loved ones in Heaven.
Leonard was born on the 23rd of May 1963, to Norman and Audrey. Leonard graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1985 with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He loved sports -- baseball was his dream and he was thrilled to play college baseball at Sam Houston.
Leonard worked for Universal Computer Systems and CallBright for over 17 years. He was proud to be part of Callbright and considered his work colleagues his second family. His proudest moments were mentoring young sales guys and watching them become successful. He will be remembered and missed by his co-workers past and present as a consummate professional.
But Leonard’s greatest achievement in life are his three beloved children. Loran, Landri and Logan are his pride and joy, and he was deeply proud of each of them. Leonard loved and cherished his family. Leonard’s illness only strengthened his belief in the Lord, his resolve at work, his dedication to his children and mentoring to many to ensure that his legacy continued beyond his time here on earth.
Leonard is survived by his loving children, Loran Taylor Barras, Landri Nicole Barras and Logan Thomas Barras; his ex-wife, Lisa Dyanne Barras; his parents, Norman Barras and Audrey Choplin; his brothers, Tommy Barras and wife, Lisa, and Robert Barras. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Barras, and his sister, Becky Barras. Leonard remained involved in the lives of Brandi, Christie, and Rachel Barras following the death of their father Kenny.
A memorial service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 28th of September, at Sugar Grove Church of Christ, 11600 West Airport Boulevard, Stafford, Texas, 77477, where Mark Howell, Pulpit Minister will officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Leonard's memory would be greatly appreciated and may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
