

Lillian Ann (Hollier) Tennille passed away Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017 at 5:05 a.m. in Houston, Texas. Born on July 24, 1937 to Rene and Bernadette (Fontenot) Hollier, in Mamou, Louisiana, Lillian was 79 years old.
After graduating from Mamou High School, Lillian attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. From there she moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and taught first grade from 1960 to 1968. In 1968 she married Richard Tennille at Immaculate Conception Church in Lake Charles. Richard and Lillian were married for over 48 years. Lillian especially enjoyed family activities, cooking, being outdoors in nature, theater, reading and her many church activities. An avid traveler, her most precious trip was to the Holy Land in 1995. While there, she purchased a simple Jerusalem Cross which she wore every day as a reminder of her experiences there.
For over a decade she volunteered with Westheimer Social Ministry to serve the needy in our community. She was active in St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and member of the Altar Guild. Later joining St. Cecilia Catholic Church, she was active in the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Bible Study, Ladies Guild, and small group religious study. She was also active in a current affairs discussion group, the Pandora chapter of Point Counter Point.
She is preceded in death by her father Rene Hollier, mother Bernadette Hollier, and sisters, Verna Freeman, Ethelene Kravchuk, and Madeleine Littleton. She is survived by her husband Richard of Houston, son Alan and his wife Lacye of Alexandria, Virginia, and wonderful granddaughters that she adored, Anna (age 6) and Georgia (age 3), who dearly loved their "Gran", as well as brothers John Hollier and Felix Hollier, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Lillian is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive Houston, Texas 77024 with a reception to follow. A committal service will be at 1:30 pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038.
