

Lloyd L. Bolton, 88, died Thursday, the 20th of November 2014. A native Houstonian, he graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1943. He attended The Rice Institute until 1944 when he joined the V-5 Naval Flight School Program. He left the program when the war ended and finished his term of service in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier “Sicily” as the Captain’s Talker. He returned to Rice and graduated in 1949.
While at Rice he met Georgiana (Ann) Putney who became his wife. They were married sixty six years.
Lloyd spent his working years in banking. He worked at Texas Commerce Bank, now Chase Bank, for thirty years. He felt very privileged to have been employed there and to have been associated with the many outstanding men and women with whom he worked. Lloyd always remained profoundly grateful to the late Mr. Charles Sapp and all the other fine attorneys at the firm of Locke Lord L.L.P.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Ann, son Robert Graves Bolton and his wife Isabel Bolton, son Lloyd Colby Bolton, daughter Georgiana Ladd and her husband Robert Ladd, granddaughters Mary Patton and her husband Ben Patton, Laura Ladd and Lisa Bolton, grandson First Lt. Lloyd Colby Bolton, USMC, and great granddaughter Violet Ann Patton. He is also survived by his niece Ellen Bolton, nephews Pat Bolton and John Bolton, and sister-in-law Jane Putney Meacham.
The family would like to thank Carol Fleming-Jones and the physicians who helped Lloyd throughout his illness: Dr. Christopher Finnila, Dr. Patrick Cook, and Dr. Eric Bernicker. Their heartfelt gratitude extends to the devoted caregivers of the Houston Hospice, “At Your Side” caregivers and to Amanda de Portillo, Maria Peña and Joaquina Bergas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 25th of November, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The interment service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 26th of November, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street in Houston, where the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Gipson, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Lloyd’s memory may be directed to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX, 77030-4123; Houston Public Library, 5830 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX, 77057; or one of the animal rescue groups.
