Lois LaVon Hebert

Born in Waverly, Iowa, July 23, 1922 to Ila Thurman Grapp and Walter Grapp, weighing a whopping 2.5 pounds, Lois was a strong survivor from the very beginning beating the odds even then.

In 1958, Lois married the love of her life, Captain Nutsey Hebert. They lived a happy life together for over 38 years in several places across the country. From the beginning to the end, Lois honored her husband, respected him and made him feel special. They resided in Houston together until Nutsey preceded her to his eternal life in 1995.

When she was a young woman, Lois was told not to expect children, but she never accepted being told NO. At almost 30 years old, her dream came true: a daughter, that she loved without condition for the rest of her life. From there her family grew adding yours, mine and ours to make a blended family.

Lois was always a constant presence of support for her family and friends in so many ways. When she was younger, she was always the driver, a lifelong homemaker, a great cook and always the one waiting to drop to her knees and pray for anyone in need. Even as she grew older and less observant, all anyone ever had to do was ask, 4am or 4pm, no matter, she said God didn't have hours and neither did she.

Lois was reunited at the Pearly Gates, with her Husband Nutsey, her Parents Ila and Walter, her Grandson Shane Gaspard, Son-in-Law Johnny Melancon, Great Grandson Jace Brunet and a host of life long friends that went before her while she stayed on to watch over her Daughter, Terri, and grandchildren, even after her body was tired and she was ready to go, because she knew that she was needed here.

Left behind to miss her every day is daughter, Terri Hebert Cole and husband (son) Rick Cole. Grandchildren: Faith Maciejko-Krenek and husband Michael Krenek, Rocky Maciejko and significant other Kristal Schrader, Nikki Cole and significant other Jeff Cronk and Dustin Cole. Great Grandchildren: Travis Lambert, Faith Leggett, Mya Cole, Lexy Cronk, Sage Neeley, Dillon Powers and Jenna Streckenbach.

Daughter: Gilda Hebert Melancon, granddaughter: Trisha Duet and husband Chance Duet, Great Grandchildren: Katie Duet, Blaine Gaspard, Isaiah Gaspard and Kyrie Gaspard and Great Great Granddaughter: Kaelynn Gaspard.

Blended family: Dixie Brunet and husband Allen Brunet, Allen Brunet Jr., Lynne Brunet Whitman and Joshua Brunet.

Honorary Daughter: Imelda McBride, Honorary Grandsons: Rory McBride and Kevin McBride and Special Friend in Christ: Tom Lemonte.
