Lois Evelyn Travis

Lois Evelyn Travis, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020 in Southaven, Mississippi. Lois was born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania to William Thomas Mullen, II and Anna Veronica Mikelonis Mullen on September 26, 1936. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1954.

She met Joseph L. Travis at a dance hall, and they were instant dance partners and loved polkas and waltzes. They married on August 23, 1958 and had three children, Ann Lynn, Maria Teresa and Joseph L. Travis, Jr. Lois worked her entire career as a legal secretary and retired from Baker Botts Law Firm in Houston, Texas in 1990. She and Joe loved to travel for their vacations and had great memories of their driving and cruising vacations. They were always thankful for those memories as they grew older and could no longer travel comfortably. Lois’ favorite beautiful memory was when they went to Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, and she loved her trip to the east coast and Maine when she could eat all the lobster she wanted. She loved cruises and enjoyed the sites, gambling, food, and entertainment. Lois enjoyed going to bingo, playing cards with the kids and grandkids, and she would always win at Scrabble. She always took games to play with the kids while on vacation or camping. She loved to camp and cook outside on the weekend at a nearby beach or lake near Houston, and she loved crabbing when they lived in southwest Louisiana. Lois and Joe made many lifelong friends as they moved from place to place and later talked about how they had outlived all their friends. Lois enjoyed their retirement years when they could spend more time in Pennsylvania and visit with her sister, Barbara (Babs), and their nieces, nephews, and old childhood friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in September 2017; they had 59 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Parulski, and her brother Ronald Mullen, and their second child, Maria Teresa, who died at birth. She is survived by her sister and brother (twins), Barbara Lipka and William Mullen, her daughter Ann Lynn Mackie (Randall – deceased), grandson Michael B. Dowdy, and granddaughter Megan E. Payne (Eric and two great-granddaughters Presley Lynn and Kylie Jo), and her son Joseph L. Travis, Jr. (MaryAnn and three stepsons – Timothy Birken (Marianne and son Jack), Michael Birken, and Kyle Birken (Amy).
