

Lonnie graduated from Eudora High School in 1949 and joined the Navy in 1950. He served during the Korean War as a radioman and was stationed off the coast of Japan. While serving his country he contracted Tuberculosis and was transferred back to the United States. After surviving Tuberculosis he then graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1959 with a degree in Geology.
After college, he began his career in the pipeline industry as his father did before him. His work required him to travel all over the world including Saudi Arabia; Lagos, Nigeria; the Dominican Republic; Santiago, Chile; Fairbanks, Alaska; and throughout the United States. He spent the majority of his adult years in Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas, and Utah. Finally settling in Houston, Texas in 1994.
He began a new adventure in his life when he met Missie Villere. They spent 25 wonderful years together living in Utah, Wyoming, Texas, the Dominican Republic, and Chile. They ultimately settled in Houston, Texas where they both became an active part of the Royal Oaks community.
Lonnie is survived by his 5 children, Donna Newton Woodall, Shannon Rogers Lindsey, Vicki Newton Taylor, Mark Newton, and Steve Newton. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, and friends.
