Loraine was born August 5, 1932, in Houston, TX to George & Marie Ehrhardt. She met the love of her life, Marvin, in the summer of 1949 at Houston Fish & Tackle. Marvin used to take numerous water breaks just to go by and look at her. He said, “She sure was a pretty thing sitting on that stool”. They married March 15, 1951. Marvin was so romantic; he took her to the wrestling matches for their honeymoon.
Loraine worked for Southwestern Bell in 1951, Henke & Pillot in 1952 and Gordon’s Jewelers from 1953-1955. In 1955 she became a full time housewife and mother. Some of her hobbies included cake decorating, stamp collecting, oil painting, hand crafts, playing hand and foot canasta, wahoo, yahtzee and babysitting the grand and great grandchildren.
Her pride and joy was her family and being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved the Lord and was the church greeter at Prairie Garden now Light House Baptist Church for many years. She saw generations of families that she came to love while doing this. Loraine was a hugger and hugged everyone she met. This past year when her health began to fail, she moved in with her youngest daughter, Lisa, in New Caney. Even though her failing health took her away from this world, her loving heart left a beacon of light for all she loved.
